SOLD: Restyled – Recovered – Repurposed: A Floor Tom Drum turned Stylish.
When found, this drum was little more than a piece of wood, covered in bad laminate and headed to the landfill. After a little TLC (okay, more than a little), it has a new life as a modern storage ottoman. After covering the exterior with black, high-grade vinyl, I re-attached the drum’s original chrome hardware as well its original legs that I modified for design purposes. To protect your floor/carpet, the drum has been elevated just an inch off the floor by the addition of four feet, reclaimed from a non-working vintage audio receiver. The top and bottom of the drum have been reinforced and the interior has been lined.
I have designed the piece so that the top of the ottoman can be easily removed. However, for secret storage, the tension rods (screws) can be fastened through the top hoop (as was intended) and no one will know that the piece opens. The best of both worlds: keep often-used items close at hand or seal up the top to store things you want to keep private.
The ottoman measures approximately 19″ high and 18″ wide. Accessories are not included.
