When your pet needs a hideout in your media room, studio or corner of the family room, consider a recycled Klipsch subwoofer that has been detailed with upholstered walls, a plush carpet, and speaker drivers for awesome feet. Klipsch has been a respected name in high-end audio for years and this subwoofer was originally part of the ProMedia Ultra 5.1 system introduced in 2003. If you are looking for a totally unique home for your best friend, this is definitely the conversation piece that will fit the bill.
During the process of repurposing, every effort has been made to make this piece as safe and comfortable as possible for your pet. All the mechanics of the subwoofer have been removed and after a detailed cleaning, I painted the walls and ceiling with Valspar’s satin finish, low order/Zero VOC black latex paint and then upholstered the surfaces to assure that your pet doesn’t come in contact with rough wood. I have fitted the floor with a removable extremely soft, low shag carpet.
Small drivers that I reclaimed from damaged speakers have been upcycled for feet. The back opening has been detailed with the subwoofer’s original screws and is now the main entrance. The two sides’ speaker grills can be used for ultimate privacy or easily removed for more air circulation.
The pet house is in very good condition with only very minor wear marks. It weighs approx. 25 lbs. The round openings measure 7″ in diameter; the door opening is approx. 9.5″ x 8.5″. Inside: 14″ x 11.5″. Outside: 15.25″ x 13.25″ and 14.75″ high. This piece is not appropriate for outdoor use.
