In your element
For those who like the idea of vintage items that serve a useful purpose: check out this beautiful non-working copper heater that’s ready to be your secret storage. The patent number dates back to the 1920s which makes this find just shy of 100 years old, the industry standard benchmark to be designated as “antique”.
With a few enhancements, this authentic vintage/antique, copper Polar Club heater has gone from working electrical space heater to a vintage decor piece with two storage areas. As shown in the photos, there is space in the original tube-like heating element for extra cash or very small items like beads. And you’re right: that plug doesn’t really belong. But it looks like it does and it serves a purpose if you’re hiding a secret inside. The base of the heater can house your larger items. I have re-designed the bottom so that it can be easily removed and I have upholstered the interior to protect your secrets. No tools are necessary to remove either the cage that surrounds the heating element nor the bottom panel.
The heater is in very good cosmetic condition for its very long life. The cage and heating element are both original, however a frayed cord has been removed. Please look closely at the photos to see an area in the 11:00 position of the copper reflector that has been dented. It is not immediately noticeable, but it was the way the heater was found and I have not attempted to alter it. There is also some paint loss on back.
